About the role

Tesco Ireland is seeking to recruit an NPD Technologist as part of our Trading Law and Technical Team in our Commercial function.  Reporting to the Lead Quality & Innovation Manager you will be responsible for managing product development projects and working with stakeholders to ensure the best results for the business. The successful candidate will be organised, used to working in a fast-paced environment and be passionate about food.

You will be responsible for

  • Working with suppliers to develop market leading products.
  • Planning, organising & reviewing NPD samples suppliers and relevant Tesco teams. 
  • Ensure all relevant documentation on New Products and Ranges from the UK teams is received and kept up to date. 
  • Ensuring that products, services and information consistently deliver quality and value to meet customer expectation in a defined product portfolio.
  • Working alongside buying and technical teams from both the ROI and UK businesses to ensure we are delivering the right products for our Irish customers.
  • Ensuring all documentation relating to new products and ranges is received accurate and maintained.
  • Ensuring our internal NPD systems are up to date, accurate and maintained. 
  • Creating PO’s and follow up on payment.
  • Organising product samples for awards.
  • Maintaining and submitting relevant documentation for awards.
  • Co-ordinating category reviews formulate the results and ensure all stakeholders are updated on the outputs.
  • Liaising with suppliers on completion of process documentation such as sample submission forms, technical handovers and critical paths.
  • Coordinating NPD samples for presentation.
  • Managing NPD project, range review critical paths, timelines & launch dates.
  • Keeping abreast of global, national, regional and local food trends to ensure that we deliver products to retail and foodservice ahead of the market.
  • Leading by example – be flexible and willing to be hands on in all capacities when required

You will need

  • Degree in Food Science / Food Technology or similar
  • Experience in Product Development within retail
  • Excellent knowledge of food legislation & regulation.
  • A natural and influential communicator who has the ability to develop strong cross functional working relationships.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of accuracy and detail
  • Full driving license and own car (needed to perform the role)
