Assistant Buyer - Ambient Food Team

About the role

This role is an introduction to commercial buying with many Buying Managers in Tesco coming from the Assistant Buyer role. The key responsibilities of the role are to support with the administration and organisation of the buying team whilst being fully immersed in the duties of the commercial team from picking ranges to managing the financial performance of the categories. 

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting the development of product ranges and the supply base
  • Trading a range within a buying area
  • Managing supplier relationships
  • Resolving/escalating supplier issues
  • Negotiating, with the support of your manager, to achieve ‘buy for less’ and ‘sell for less’ plans
  • Developing and actively maintaining a positive relationship across the business in Ireland
  • Adhering to all Tesco policies and guidance, including storage protocols and successfully completing all Commercial Income and Grocery Regulations training so that you have zero Grocery Regulations breaches
  • Ensuring all agreements are accurate and recorded in writing in line with Commercial processes, and reporting Grocery Regulations complaints to Legal within 48hours of receipt
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always act with integrity and due diligence
