About the role

Tesco Ireland are currently seeking to appoint a Buying Manager for the Crisps and Biscuits category within our Commercial Team. The role is responsible for creating profitable customer driven ranges and promotions to deliver sales and margin targets. The role’s buying plan supports a group of products to support the delivery of the customer plan and promises of ‘I can get what I want’ and ‘the prices are good’.

You will be responsible for

  • Developing a business plan that supports the trade plan of your buying area
  • Constructing and managing ROI ranges
  • Managing and developing my local supply base
  • Sourcing new products and be innovative within your area
  • Developing strong working relationships with UK Buying Teams
  • Focusing on developing a leading product range
  • Working with Technical to develop own label products for range
  • Planning and trading seasonal buys
  • Adhering to all Tesco policies and guidance, including storage protocols and successfully completing all Commercial Income and Grocery Regulations training so that you have zero Grocery Regulations breaches
  • Building and owning sales and margin budgets for your category
  • Understanding and delivering your buy for less target
  • Developing a strong buy/sell plan with suppliers
  • Managing your value for money index
  • Ensuring all agreements are accurate and recorded in writing in line with Commercial processes, and reporting Grocery Regulations complaints to Legal within 48hours of receipt
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always act with integrity and due diligence
  • Your buying plan will support the delivery of the customer plan
  • Providing a great range which gives customers a reason to shop with us across all store formats
  • Ensuring that your buying area has a robust trade plan
  • Developing a key supplier base to achieve competitive advantage
  • Negotiating product cost and rebates to continually drive down costs for our customers
  • Planning and negotiating market leading promotions

You will need

  • Minimum of 2-3 years buying experience
  • Buying Skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Key commercial skills i.e. Range Management, Supplier Management, Strategic Planning, Financial Acumen, Margin Management
  • Analysing data and reporting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
