Head of Corporate and Consumer PR

Tesco Ireland is seeking to recruit a Head of Corporate and Consumer PR as part of our Corporate Affairs Team. This key role sits on the Corporate Affairs Leadership team for Ireland reporting to the Communications Director. The Head of PR is responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputation of Tesco Ireland through the development and execution of a public relations strategy to support and enable the delivery of the business objectives.

• Developing and executing an integrated corporate and consumer media strategy, positioning Tesco as an industry leader
• Developing strategies based on insight, and horizon-scanning/spotting trends, that create opportunities for Tesco
• Pro-actively creating and developing effective media relations solutions in consultation with relevant subject matter experts across the team (e.g. CSR/Gov relations)
• Ensuring that key reputational issues impacting Tesco are effectively managed across the media spectrum
• Managing and directing supporting PR/ media agencies, ensuring their work and advice are of high quality
• Engaging media organisations with latest Tesco insights
• Identifying relevant speaker/profiling opportunities
• Reviewing and approving messaging within the business
• Engaging internal functions around content approval and proofing of key activities (e.g. Financial results)
• Engaging with external parties and organisation around media events and promotions
• Managing events (e.g. supplier conference)
• Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
• Developing & fostering strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders inc. key journalists & key influencers
• Forecasting and managing my budgets effectively, always being cost conscious

• Experience in developing & executing best-in-class PR initiatives
• Proven track record of game-changing strategies and execution that resulted in positive outcomes
• Extensive media relationships and network
• Experience leading a team and developing a future talent pipeline
• Excellent relationship management skills
• Outstanding communications and influencing skills
• Exceptional writing skills & evidence of the same
• Strong crisis/issue management skills
