Tesco Ireland are currently seeking to appoint a Core & BSS Manager within our Tesco Mobile Team. The Telecoms Manager is a key member of the Tesco Mobile Team and reports directly to the Head of Technology, Wholesale and BI.  It is responsible for all management, operations and development of the MVNE (Mobile Virtual Network Enabler) platform.  This role provides an exciting, fast paced and challenging career opportunity for an experienced mobile telecommunications manager.  To be successful in this role you must have demonstrated an ability to lead, manage and communicate effectively at all levels, including to a Board of Directors.

You will be responsible for

  • Be responsible for MVNE Core Network & BSS (Business Support Systems including Billing, Charging and Middleware) architecture & ecosystem
  • Planning and Implementation of technology strategies on an annual basis.
  • Proactive vendor management and performance against KPIs.
  • Develop new products and services for our customers in conjunction with wider TMI team
  • Support departments/functions within Tesco Mobile including Customer Care.
  • Proactively monitor and assess industry, competitor, and regulatory trends to ensure operational capabilities optimally position Tesco Mobile to compete and respond to change.
  • Ownership of significant CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
  • Work with the MNO and technology partners to implement the Tesco Mobile network strategy across technologies including 3G, 4G, 5G and VoLTE.
  • Be accountable for operational excellence and network stability in a complex environment.
  • Contribute to capacity and business forecasting.
  • Support the wider business with implementation of projects, products & services across the business

You will need

  • Technical Degree to bachelor level or other related third level qualification with 5+ years’ experience in the Mobile Telecoms Industry. 
  • Technical and strategic knowledge of a mobile network including Mobile Network Core (Packet, Voice, SMS and subscriber data management),
  • Technical knowledge of interworking with BSS systems including Billing, Charging, Middleware
  • Roadmap planning skills and the ability to direct technology strategy and visions for Tesco Mobile.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead technology strategy as a key voice in the executive management team.
  • Proven record of managing technology operations within a mobile operator and a passion to deliver operational excellence.
  • Vendor management and proven results in driving performance.
  • Outsourcing management and contract negotiation experience essential.
  • A good understanding of Telecom & IT security.
