About the role

Tesco Ireland are currently seeking to appoint a Strategic Planning Manager. The role of the Strategic Planning Manager is to support the definition of the company’s strategic plan and to support the development of plans to realise our business objectives as part of annual business planning.

This position is a key role in the team; an expert in their focus area with an expectation that they can work autonomously on their key areas of responsibility.  We are seeking an experienced communicator with proven ability to lead, influence and work effectively with cross functional teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced candidate to support the delivery of a range of project types, complex business initiatives and business change programmes. It’s a hands on role that will require active support and participation in the execution process.

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting the business with the creation, prioritisation and execution of strategic organic and inorganic opportunities to drive superior business growth.
  • Working with senior stakeholders across the business to support the development of business unit strategies.
  • Working effectively with external agencies ensuring strong delivery of projects.  
  • Translating market and consumer analysis into actionable insights.
  • Identifying and monitoring long term internal and global external trends, holding a well-informed perspective on the threats and challenges for grocery retailing.
  • Identifying industry and technological innovation opportunities.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis using macroeconomic data sources and tools.
  • Utilising business models to support the development of different business scenarios and measure their impact.
  • Assist in the development of C-suite presentation materials.
  • Working with key stakeholders to develop fact based recommendations that support the development of business cases to accelerate growth and drive consensus towards those recommendations.
  • Supporting the translation of business objectives into implementation plans through project set up and key stakeholder coordination and engagement.

You will need

  • Experience ideally within and supporting a PMO function responsible for delivering key business initiatives and involved in implementing business change.
  • Direct experience in managing projects with expert knowledge of project management structures and tools to support the planning and delivery of projects and change management programmes.
  • Proven track record of working with cross functional stakeholders in project teams and to agreed timelines.
  • Project management certified: Industry or recognised in house methodology.
  • Strong competence in Microsoft office suite; specifically, powerpoint and excel.
  • Six Sigma and process improvement experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in business evaluations and strategy building.
  • Experience in developing c-suite presentation materials.
  • To be analytical with strong organisational abilities.
  • A structured approach and process orientated.
  • Demonstrable strategic thinking abilities and a business problem solving skill set with a collaborative approach to working within teams.
  • The ability to influence and communicate effectively to key stakeholders.
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity and work in a fast paced environment within the timelines set.
  • To be flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in a matrix organisation.
