You’ll be providing commercial legal advice to Tesco’s diverse businesses. This includes our Commercial, Personnel, Finance and Property teams. Essentially, you’ll be dealing with all the legal issues that a global multichannel retailer could face from day to day. As well as drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, you’ll advise strategically on legal matters including contract interpretation, e-commerce, intellectual property, data protection, dispute resolution and competition law.

There’ll be lots of responsibility from day one, but we’ll always make sure that you have the support you need to do a great job. We’re a strong believer in Continuous Professional Development (CPD). You’ll get the chance to hear from lawyers of all specialisms, and from our external law firm partners. It’s altogether a great way to continuously learn, develop and keep on top of current affairs in the legal industry.

Our work touches almost every aspect of Tesco’s operations, so you’ll inevitably come into contact with lots of different teams within the business. We recruit colleagues dedicated to specific specialisms, so you could find yourself providing support to a particular part of the business. And you’ll have plenty of interactions outside Tesco, as you’ll act as our legal representative to law firms and regulatory bodies.

We’re looking for people who will genuinely put our customers at the heart of what we do. In addition to an excellent academic background and relevant experience gained in house or at a top-tier firm, you’ll need to have good communication skills, a commercial and pragmatic approach and the ability to interact effectively with the business at all levels.

While technical skills are hugely important, we also put an emphasis on great leadership skills.
