"We make sure every single person who comes into contact with Tesco has a positive experience"

As a business, we want to be loved by customers. It’s our overall vision, and it’s our job in Corporate Affairs to make this a reality.

We make sure every single person who comes into contact with Tesco has a positive experience. This goes for colleagues, customers and communities as a whole. We believe that it’s no longer just price, quality and convenience that matter – customers also want to know exactly what Tesco stands for, and how we have a positive impact on local communities. So we’re here to tell the Tesco story in a new, more compelling and relevant way. To show that, as well as creating value for customers, colleagues and shareholders, we create value for society as a whole.

If you join Corporate Affairs, you’ll be working in one of our specialist teams:

Government Affairs – We work to build strong relationships with our Government both locally and nationally. You may have seen some of our initiatives to help young unemployed people get back to work which we have run alongside the Department of Social Protection and this is just a taster of how we link in with our Government.

PR – We build Tesco’s reputation in the media. Situations affecting our reputation can arise at any time, so we react quickly, with the right approach. We work with all functions in the business to enhance our reputation in both local and national media.

Community – The people in our local communities are important to us and we have a big responsibility to them. We have a number of community initiatives to ensure that we Use Our Scale for Good and win the hearts of our customers. This year, our Charity of the Year is Temple Street, and we will be encouraging all of our colleagues and customers to get involved and raise as much money for Temple Street as we can.

Internal Communications – We have colleagues in over 140 stores, in our Distribution Centre and in our Office. But we are still one team, so it's important that we can communicate as one. We ensure that our communications remain relevant and that we deliver a consistent message across the business. We utilise a number of communication tools so that we are delivering the right message, in the right channel.

We’re looking for a great storyteller who’s able to influence internal and external stakeholders – someone who’s outgoing and genuinely interested in listening to colleagues, customers and investors. And to really succeed you’ll need fantastic communication skills, as well as an ability to analyse complex issues and exercise sound judgement.

Any one of our colleagues - It could be anyone from our senior leadership teams to colleagues in Head Office, Stores or Distribution. And we also work with many different government representatives, local communities and investors.
