"Each day is different and you have to be thinking one step ahead — in multichannel retailing nothing stays the same for long"

As a buyer you get to create ranges that our customers will love enough to buy. The role includes reviewing the latest trends, developing new collections and being first to make new innovations available. It’s very rewarding — especially when you see other people choosing and enjoying products from your ranges.

With the volumes we’re working to, being a buyer at Tesco is a big responsibility. Our customers and all our colleagues around the world will be relying on the decisions you make. You can give us the edge by ensuring  you source the right quality product at the right price, building simple, sustainable and transparent supply chains.

Each day is different and you have to be thinking one step ahead — in multichannel retailing nothing stays the same for long. Our customers’ needs are changing too and anticipating this is a real skill. If you can find the ideas and have the creativity and influence to make them a reality then you can make a great buyer.

Our role is to look after buying (procuring) the vast range of goods and services that our business needs to use — rather than the things that we resell.

We procure a vast range of different products: refrigeration units, lights, trolleys, baskets, tills, till rolls, car parks, roll cages, recycling banks, POS (point of sale) hanging signs, water machines,  shelf edges, stationary and many more items. Services we procure include consultancy, recruitment, travel, marketing and advertising, cash and banking, security and cleaning.
