Tesco led the way for the world in creating online grocery - we have built a fantastic business, one that everyone in Tesco is very proud of. In doing so we have created a service that customers love and competitors envy. Our role is to ensure we are delivering the best possible service to our customers day in day out, through creating the right environment, training and tools for the people who work in Grocery Home Shopping.

The GHS vision is that we continue to lead the way in this market and create a truly multichannel multi-device business, that allows customers to shop for food wherever, whenever and however they want to, with digital tools for in-store, online, on the go or all of the above. We need to use our network of shops across all formats to create convenient options for customers. Whether it’s same day or click and collect, and giving access to more ranges and services than just exist in our stores today. And we need to do this in a seamless and simple way.

Customers are increasingly savvy about where they shop and demand more from the service they use. We therefore need to continue to build the reliability of our operation, delivering a service that goes the extra mile thereby inspiring loyalty from our customers. Through Clubcard and through the web and mobile we have an opportunity to build personal and tailored experiences.

What goes on in Operations?
We tackle the complex day-to-day running of the Grocery Home Shopping operation in our stores, making sure that we deliver the best for our customers on the doorstep and at our Click and Collect locations. Our goal is to deliver the perfect order every time.

We work in some key areas: Planning and Response; Fleet and Equipment; Customer Operations; and Driver Training.

We’re continuously reviewing and developing Operations to make things better and add value for our customers, our colleagues and the wider business.

What skills do I need to work in Operations?
To succeed in our team you’ll need to be serious about putting our customers first. You’ll also need a fine eye for detail and an analytical mind – to spot trends in data and make sense of shopping patterns. We’re looking for people who can take a long-term view, while also being able to work closely with other teams and external stakeholders.
