"One of the most exciting parts of working in Property is developing new ways to link the instore and online experiences"

Every new store that opens is our responsibility. We oversee it all: from evaluating a potential site to building the store itself and maintaining it once it’s opened. It’s a fast-paced, challenging job and we constantly have to leverage our size and scale to get the best results. We often share blueprints, best practice and our global portfolio across all of our regions.

Tesco’s overall ambition is to be the world’s largest multichannel retailer – so it goes without saying that property remains vital to our growth and future success. And it also means that the physical spaces we develop have to work alongside our digital spaces. One of the most exciting parts of the job is developing new ways to link the instore and online experiences.

We have a wide range of roles within Property, so whether you’ve got specialist or generalist skills, there should be something to suit you. Because you’ll be talking to lots of different stakeholders, strong interpersonal skills are really important, as is the ability to work well in a diverse environment.

We want our shopping experience to be as good as it possibly can be, so you’ll need to be innovative and proactive with the ways in which we can improve – thinking about our customers in every single thing you do.

You’ll be doing all sorts of things for the business. This could mean coming up with new designs at concept stage or developing a new layout for an existing store. You might be improving current practices by overhauling the customer experience, or finding ways to make things simpler, better and cheaper. A lot of our work also supports local communities, to make sure that our stores are entirely tailored to their needs.

This is a great opportunity to experience lots of different sides of the business, as we work closely with many different stakeholders. Marketing provide customer insight, while Commercial make sure that the product offer is right for customers. Procurement purchase our requirements at the best price, while Retail make sure that we deliver for customers through service and environment, so customers can shop in a seamless, multichannel way.
