About the role

Tesco Ireland is seeking to recruit a Commercial Lawyer to work as part of our Legal and Compliance Team. This role will report to the Head of Legal and Compliance. The successful candidate will be expected to partner with ROI business stakeholders and Group Legal to manage legal risks proactively and reactively and develop the legal business plan for the medium and long term. This role will support strategic business projects with robust and commercially focussed legal advice across a broad spectrum of areas. The successful candidate will play an important part in continuing to develop our business and team.

You will be responsible for

  • Drafting and reviewing complex commercial contracts, policy documentation and corporate documentation
  • Assisting on internally and externally focussed projects and reporting back to Tesco Ireland leadership team
  • Representing the legal team on internal working groups and providing feedback and advice
  • Managing multiple and varied workstreams
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders

You will need

  • Qualified Solicitor with 2-5 years PQE.
  • Must have experience of private practice in Ireland in a leading commercial law firm and in-house experience is a plus.
  • Collaborative, commercial and assertive person with strong communication, team building and stakeholder management skills.
  • An ability to weigh up the legal risks and queries that arise across a number of areas and combine this with a commercially focussed outlook.
  • A desire to be proactive in developing systems and processes, identifying issues and arriving at solutions.
  • Strong work ethic and very comfortable working independently and in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with an ability to process large amounts of information and communicate in a clear and commercially focussed manner to all areas of the Tesco business.
  • Ability to recognise and prioritise important commercial and legal issues as they arise and delegate work accordingly.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with external advisors while also managing costs appropriately.
