About the role

Tesco: Head Office, Gresham House, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin  

Contract: Full-Time

Tesco Ireland are currently seeking to appoint a Solicitor. This role will primarily involve Data Protection, litigation and commercial contracts. It will also involve ad-hoc projects and queries from across the business. This role also has exposure to all functions across the business as well as the leadership team.

You will be responsible for

Working with stakeholders across the ROI business and Group with a particular focus on the following:

Regulatory:

  • Supporting our Data Protection Officer in relation to Data Protection queries, complaints and Data Access Requests
  • Supporting the Customer team in ensuring regulatory compliance with regard to marketing campaigns and activations
  • Supporting the Commercial team to ensure compliance with competition law and Grocery Regulations.

Compliance:

  • Implementation of Group Compliance Blueprints
  • Providing annual and ad-hoc compliance training to the business.

Litigation: Responsible for managing own litigation files and liaising with external advisers in relation to outsourced matters. Experience in the following areas an advantage:

  • Commercial Litigation
  • Defamation,
  • Regulatory Litigation
  • Contentious Employment matters

Commercial: Drafting and review of commercial contracts, provision of appropriate training and ad hoc commercial advice as required.

Internal Reporting: Legal updates to Group and to the Irish Board of Directors

You will need

  • The successful applicant needs to be a qualified Solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience (PQE) in at least two of the relevant areas identified above.
  • Confident and professional communication and presentation skills with the ability to provide accurate, high-quality yet practical and concise legal advice.
  • Self-disciplined, highly organized and able to work independently and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines and manage projects.
  • Strong computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
